Be A Friend of Scouting!

The Mt. Diablo Silverado Council (MDSC) does amazing work for our Scouts, but receives no funding from our annual dues.   In fact, MDSC spends approximately $250 per scout for the following:

  • Maintain and operate great camps that offer
Summer camp for Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Venturers
    Facilities for year-round weekend camping
    Weekend camping for Cub Scouts
    Outdoor training
  • Support parents and volunteer leaders
    Program development and resources
    Council and district activities
    Training and advancement support
Scout trading posts and customer service centers
  • Provide Scouting to youth in at-risk neighborhoods
  • Provide a trained professional staff
    Program support and assistance
    Organize membership recruitment
    Support charter partners
    Advise and support district committees
Create Scouting contacts in the community
  • Protect volunteer leaders with liability insurance
  • Provide camp scholarships
The annual "Friends of Scouting" campaign provides MDSC with about 1/3 of the money it needs to do its work to benefit our scouts.
More information about the importance of funding our Council will be provided at the January Pack Meeting.  In the meantime, please consider being a "Friend of Scouting" by making a tax-deductible donation in any amount at the February Pack Meeting.  Our Scouts are worth the investment!
